On the night of 1–2 July, Russia carried out one of the largest air attacks on Kyiv since the start of the full-scale invasion, using a combination of ballistic and cruise missiles alongside hundreds of drones. The assault lasted for many hours overnight. At least 21 people were killed in Kyiv, with dozens more injured and more than 100 buildings were damaged. That day, the office of our member La Strada Ukraine was hit, including the space where the National Hotline for Children and Youth (116 111) operates. Thankfully, the team was in a shelter at the time of the attack and everyone remained safe.
La Strada Ukraine is a leading Ukrainian civil society organization dedicated to preventing human trafficking, gender-based violence, and protecting children’s rights. Throughout the ongoing war, La Strada Ukraine has expanded its critical support services, including national hotlines, legal and psychological assistance, providing protection for women, children, and other vulnerable groups affected by the war.
This attack was yet another reminder of the extremely difficult conditions under which protection and support services continue to operate in Ukraine. Supporting La Strada Ukraine helps ensure that survivors can access life-saving assistance, protection, and pathways to recovery when they need them most.
