La Strada Poland receives award from the Polish Business Council

The President of La Strada Poland, Irena Dawid-Olczyk , has received the prestigious award from the Polish Business Council in recognition of her work combatting human trafficking.

The Polish Business Roundtable Award is one of the most prestigious Polish awards that has been presented to outstanding businesspeople and social activists since 2012. The Award is granted in four categories: for most exceptional achievements in business; for innovative and visionary ventures that set new standards and trends; for social projects that improve lives of those in need; and for an exceptional contribution to Poland’s economic and social development.

This is the first time efforts to combat human trafficking has been recognised by the Polish Business Council.

In Irena’s own words (translated from Polish):

“Thank you to everyone who works with me every day – because my success is our success. Thank you to those who answer calls and emails from me and postpone their business to take care of our friends, volunteers, extensive contacts. Thank you to the families of our employees and volunteers who also engage when needed… Prizes are won by the ” faces ” of the organisation, but the whole organisations do the work. Although the purpose of our work is not prizes, prizes and honors happen and help with work…Thank you to the Polish Business Council for seeing and appreciating our work. I hope that we will earn the position of a serious partner of Polish business and the prize will open many closed doors for us.”

And on that note, a big well done and thank-you from La Strada International. May your work and passion inspires us all.
