LSI accepted to participate in EU Victims’ Rights Platform

La Strada International has been accepted to participate in the EU Victims’ Rights Platform. The EU Victims’ Rights Platform was inaugurated on 22 September 2020, after which the Commission launched a call this year for expression of interest for EU level umbrella organisations, interested to engage in the implementation of the EU Strategy on victims’ rights (2020 – 2025).

Since its establishment, La Strada International has been advocating for the rights of victims of human trafficking as well as victims of related crimes, including their access to assistance and effective remedies. The new EU Strategy on Victim Rights (2020 – 2025), which the European Commission adopted on 24 June 2020 aims to ensure that all victims of all crime can fully rely on their rights. The priorities of the Strategy include effective communication with victims and a safe environment for victims to report crime; improving support and protection to the most vulnerable victims and facilitating victims’ access to compensation. La Strada International will use its participation in the Platform for joint cross border cooperation and actions, in particular to improve access to information, save reporting and effective remedies for victims of trafficking and exploitation.
