EU Victim Rights Day: Justice for all victims of crime!

GRETA elections

Today is Victim’s Rights Day. Jointly with PICUM and over 40 other NGOs, La Strada International calls on EU negotiators to strengthen the rights of all victims of crime, no matter their residency status.

Especially safe and confidential mechanisms must exist that give people the opportunity to report abuse without fearing immigration enforcement or other punishments. Victims who do not have a regular residency status must be protected and their residence status should not be shared with authorities. These are just two examples of adaptions that the EU must make to ensure strong victim rights for people affected by crime. The full statement can be found here.

Spread the word and stand together for the protection of victims and fair access to help. Communities thrive when we can all seek safety and get justice against abuse.
